DID THEY SEE THE END OF THE CHURCH?
In september 1917, three young shepherd children–Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco also called “the 3 seers”—in a series of apparitions at Fatima, Portugal from May to October 1917, received three revelations from St. Mary. (or was it the Holy Spirit?) She appeared unto them in the fields outside of their village Fatima. As young as they were, they were even persecuted by their own village and clergy, and at one time even locked up to prevent them from going out in the fields.
The last time when they said they were going to see a vision of Mary, many thousands of people followed them, wanting to witness the vision. Only the 3 children saw Maria, nobody else, but a strange phenomenon occurred, in that the sun actually started “dancing” in the sky and it “rained” flowers! This phenomena is known as the “miracle of the sun.”
The children also received visions about how and when they would die, which was fulfilled in the case of two of them, as the last of them, Lucia, is still alive as of today, December 1999. All of the Popes since the Fatima Miracle have recognized the Message as authentic. Several of them have gone to Fatima in person, including Paul VI, John Paul I and John Paul II.—John Paul II saying at Fatima in 1982 that “the Message of Fatima imposes an obligation on the Church.”
Many miraculous cures have taken place since, which science cannot explain by natural means, not just on October 13, 1917, at the time of the Miracle of the Sun, but down through the years until the present day. This also, claims the Catholic Church, authenticates the Fatima Message as coming from God.
The Message of Fatima accurately predicted in 1917 all of the following events which came to pass:
(1) The end of World War I in 1918;
(2) The emergence of Russia as a world power which would “spread its errors (including Communism) throughout the world … raising up wars and persecutions against the Church”;
(3) The election of a Pope who would be named Pius XI;
(4) The waging of a second World War following a strange light in the night sky.
The Message of Fatima also predicted that if the request of Mary at Fatima is not honored,
- “many souls will be lost”,
- “the Holy Father will have much to suffer”,
- “there will be further wars and persecutions of the Church” and
- “various nations will be annihilated.”
The “request of Mary” is purported to be that the Catholic Church’s leader the Pope, in the presence of all the bishops, would publicly “consecrate Russia unto God, by name.” This would then result in “the salvation of many souls and help Russia turn to Christianity”, and thus avert some of the doom and give an era of peace! Although the Church did enact a consecration, Fatima Catholics feel, it was not done so specifically “naming Russia!”—Probably for political reasons.
Full annihilation of nations predicted at Fatima has not yet occurred, although many more instances of genocide haven taken place since in Cambodia, Yugoslavia and Rwanda. [in 2000 when this was written] Many fear though that it will fully happen in the very last days, during the last 3½ years, given the growing AC opposition against God and His children and corruption of the world, during the “Great Tribulation”
The second prediction that Russia which had become Communist, would “turn to Christianity”, began to take place after “the fall of Communism” in 1989, when an unprecedented wave of Christian interest hit the former Soviet Union! As a result, there are MORE CHRISTIANS IN RUSSIA NOW, than there EVER WERE!
THE LAST “SECRET” 3rd PREDICTION
This is why many believe that the last SECRET prediction will be fulfilled as well! The only problem is that it has been kept secret for over 80 years! (in 2000) Lucia, the only surviving one of the three children, gave the Vatican a sealed letter containing the third prediction. This last prediction is purported to be about the end of the (Catholic?) Church, that being the reason WHY the revelation has been kept secret in Roman Catholic Church archives, as Catholics interpret it to mean the end of just their Church, whereas the Bible predicts and indicates that the Endtime will bring an end to the temporal, financial, organisational and political power of ALL churches.
Although the Vatican recently claims to have “revealed it”, Fatima followers believe that the Vatican is holding back the truth. Some claim to know what it is about, and speculations are rife! Church officials have leaked, that it also has something to do with “the last Pope” and that in connection with the rise of the AC!
Also this last prediction is perported to be fulfilled within the life time of the third Fatima child. Lucia is still alive today and living as a nun in a convent in Coimbra Portugal, almost in her nineties. Unless she lives to be very old, these Endtime predictions will have to be fulfilled any day now! …Are you ready?
Again, all this jives very well with the predictions of other prophets and seers!
SOME OTHER VISIONARIES
Some Poor Predictions
As we approach the year 2000, certain traditional millennial activities have already begun. Not the least of these are the experts’ prognostications about what the next years will bring. As a public service, we at the Institute of Expertology are pleased to make available a select number of predictions by those who foresaw what was destined to happen this century.
“Man will not fly for fifty years.”–Wilbur Wright, to his brother Orville, 1901.
“The actual building of roads devoted to motor cars is not for the near future, in spite of the many rumors to that effect.”–Harper’s Weekly, Aug. 2, 1902.
“Video won’t be able to hold onto any market it captures after the first six months. People will soon get tired of staring into a plywood box every night.”–Darryl F. Zanuck, head of 20th Century-Fox Studios, around 1946.
“Nuclear powered vacuum cleaners will probably be a reality in ten years.”–Albert Lewyt, president of the Lewyt Vacuum Cleaner Corp., quoted in the New York Times, June 10, 1955.
“Castro in Cuba will be overthrown within months.”– Kiplinger Washington Letter, Feb. 18, 1961.
“I’ll have my first Zambian astronaut on the Moon by 1965…. We are using my own firing system, derived from the catapult.”–Edward Mukaka Nkoloso, director-general of the Zambia National Academy of Space Research, Nov. 3, 1964.
“Castro’s finished. It’s just a question of how quickly it happens.”–Richard Perle, former assistant secretary of defense, “Larry King Live,” March 4, 1991.
Foretelling the future is becoming a popular–& highly paid–business. But few soothsayers will ever be able to equal the record of Jules Verne in predicting what’s ahead for the World.
First & foremost among all science-fiction writers, Verne reached the peak of his writing career before the start of the 20th century. In his books, he prophesied atomic submarines, the military tank, skyscrapers, aircraft, television, earth-moving machines, talking pictures, & a host of other modern inventions.–And not only did he predict them, he explained how they would work.
But Verne’s most uncanny forecast of things to come was his detailed description of a voyage to the Moon. Verne described a Moon rocket long before anyone dreamed of such a thing, & even told of a dog that would be sent up first–as the Russians did–to test the projectile.
Most amazing of all, however, in his book “Around the Moon”, this fantastic man actually described the place from which a Moon rocket would take off. These are his words: “Everyone in America made it his duty to study the geography of Florida. As a point of departure for the Moon rocket, they had chosen an area situated 27 degrees North Latitude & 5 degrees West Longitude.” That location is only 80 miles from Cape Kennedy.
